I enjoyed reading Uglies. It was an interesting story. It's not hard to imagine something like that happening in the future. Maybe not as extreme, but in a milder sense. Don't "pretty" people already get things easier than the rest of the population? It seems like those with incredible good looks can flash a smile and get whatever they want. And how much of what we do and say is controlled by advertising and the media? Buy this, wear these, go there, etc. Many people are already ok with this, not ever thinking for themselves. I was happy with the book so I went ahead and read Pretties and Specials. By the end of Specials I was tired of the story and am not really interested in reading Extras. Unless someone convinces me that it is worth it.
