Well, it's July 1st. I finished 'Uglies' a week or so ago. But decided to wait until today to offer my comments. It took me about half the book to really get interested. I was mildly curious at first, but by the end, I couldn't wait to see if these kids could figure out the truth. I found the concept of the book very scary as I could see something similar to this actually happening. There are people today who think they know what's best for everyone and that their ideas are the only true and rational way to do things. How far fetched do you think this idea is? Can you see something similar happening? Perhaps not in molding faces, bodies, etc, but in controlling the mind and restricting thinking to a narrow and limited view.
But overall, I enjoyed the book enough to be reading 'Pretties' right now.
Hope you are all doing well!
Connie

I'm only to the part where her friend takes her to the roller coaster. I'm listening to it on tape and like it. One interesting thing about listening to it is that the reader uses kind of a sluggish, drunk voice for the pretties. Like there dopey. I am interested to see if that is intentional. . .
